Laundry Assistant

• A High school diploma or equivalent is required. A vocational qualification in Laundry Operations, Hospitality Services, Healthcare Support, or related field is preferred;

• Previous experience in laundry, healthcare, hospitality, or a similar service environment is preferred;

• Knowledge of linen management, inventory control, and laundry equipment operation;

• Understanding of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, chemical safety, and safe manual handling practices;

• Basic computer skills for inventory records and documentation;

• Good verbal and written communication skills in English. Additional languages are an asset.

• Receive, inspect, store, and distribute hospital linen while maintaining quality and inventory standards;

• Manage linen stock levels, perform inventory counts, and report shortages or discrepancies;

• Operate laundry equipment and automated linen carousel systems (SMGH) safely and efficiently;

• Handle clean and contaminated linen according to IPC procedures;

• Maintain laundry areas, equipment, storage spaces, and support housekeeping activities as required;

• Collaborate with departments, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely linen availability.
